Description

This fried Cajun alligator bites recipe is one of my favorites! The alligator tail meat is seasoned and soaked in a buttermilk mixture and then coated with seasoned flour. With the hot sauce and Old Bay mixed in, there's just enough heat to add to the flavorfulness of these bite size treats.

Ingredients
  • 1 pound Alligator Tail Meat
  • 1 cup Flour
  • 1 tablespoon Old Bay Seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon Garlic Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 1 1/2 cup Butter Milk
  • 1 teaspoon Kosher Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Hot Sauce
  • 1 Egg
Instructions
  1. Combine flour, Old Bay, garlic powder, and black pepper in a large bowl. Mix well.

  2. In a separate bowl combine the buttermilk, salt, black pepper, hot sauce, and egg. Mix well.

  3. Soak the alligator meat in the buttermilk mixture for about 30 minutes in the refrigerator.

  4. Remove the alligator meat form the buttermilk and coat with the flour mixture.

  5. Place the alligator meat into a deep fryer preheated to 350 F and cook for 6-7 minutes. Internal temperature should be 160F.

  6. Drain on a paper towel and serve!
